True Co-Operation
How to spark a co-operation between people and projects?
I have many friends who work towards a vision of making the world a better place for all. I view all of their projects as working towards a shared vision. Even if some visions are more specific, some are more abstract (specific words to describe a vision change based on progress and often seeing a commonality depends on one's imagination and a set of values, i.e. willigness to collaborate).
I often observe that my friends projects are great at some parts - some are great at technology, some at communication and design, some at networking, fundraising or business models. But only together these projects would create something valuable for all.
What is true cooperation?
Doing together. Not always everyone does an equal part (of the amount of time or quality), because some people are better at doing the ground work, while others - at bringing in resources etc. The level of experience differs. Timing plays a role too, some work needs to happen before others jumps in. I think that's how it is. Intention to "just add some ingredient to the soup" is the most important.
Self-motivated parts. Holocracy is an interesting management model, where all parts are self-motivated to create a whole that's more than parts. Figuring one's personal motivation and a project's vision brings in clarity, before co-operation with others starts.
Clear communication, even with different tools. I notice how some of my friends love text, others - drawings, code or audios. That means, some can explain very clearly typing the words, while others just sketch the concept or send an audio recording (unable to type the text or to sketch). Noticing the differences between people, so that we connect to do together is important. Sometimes that means translating someone's text into a visual or typing the audio into text, so that everyone is more on the same page.
Possible steps for True Cooperation?
-
Being visible - showcasing each others projects to one another
-
Being transparent - sharing about Challenges and Needs they have, so that others can help out
-
Being flexible - welcoming the help and adjusting one's actions to move together
Curious, what do you think about Co-Operation, how does it happen and why it doesn't happen?
Restoration of right relationship between one another and the living earth; ultimately the abolition of the concept of property and extractive capitalism.
Usually, it is the executable, believable vision, that brings teams together.
If a certain world vision is sufficiently believable and valuable, and executable (=actionable in the true sense, not in the sense of exploration, but in the sense of implementation).
That vision, is usually provided by someone, usually, the people who have figured out the 'how', and shared an 'idea' that describes the 'how' in detail, and thus gives the believability to the vision. For example, the idea of landing a rocket back on its stand, is just an idea, but with the automated control principles, it is a believable idea to the people who can then have true cooperation on the basis of that belief.
Similarly, a whitepaper about how to create a decentralized computer, or a solar sail and high powered lasers, may make people believe that certain things (like decentralized governance, or reaching other stars) is possible, and worth working for. How this evolves further, often depends on the specific acts of communication: friendships, leaderships, co-working, etc.
Coming up with an executable vision is as hard as writing a good idea, however, it is something that comes up in each of our minds as hyptheses, that if we do something a little, something bigger is gonna result from that. :)
Describing the 'how' in detail can't be understated: one can explain an idea abstractly, thinking that one has described all there is to it, but others won't understand it until you describe it in steps of a process and what happens as a result -- then, their eyes light up, and they think "oh yeah, that's a great idea, let's do it!", and then a possible cooperation begins.

How can people learn to imagine and envision, refine the Visions? I'd say not everyone has such a skill. Even a simple question of "What do you want?" depends on a situation and point in time.
To me, envisioning is a process rather than a thing. Then, envisioning together is possible, when people go on the journey of discovering that Vision together. Here, co-operation does not need to wait for a perfection of everyone's individual vision, but rather a space where researching together is possible.
Perhaps we need to break ideas up into more subproblems.
Then each person can have an inbox of work representation.
We need physical spaces for colocation. Presentations of our work. Value cross referencing.
If I could do a quiz and fill out words I am interested in then maybe I can be joined with people who are looking into the same ideas.
Perhaps we need additional interactions possible with categories Mindey. Like "I support this" and "I am interested in working on this"
The Indihub ecosystem that Gyuri Lajos has been working on intrinsically promotes discoverability. That knowledge sharing built into everyone’s publicly shared ideas promotes scaling an idea to the network without people having to join and signup. Onboarding people is naturally a slow and time consuming process. For instance, this post and all the posts in this group are only accessible to the small number of people who have joined. If this software was ported to fission.code and made public, then anyone with Fission account can search, find and respond to this conversation thread.
I've noticed from browsing Redecentralize that all the projects available are incompatible. The abstractions are all different.
It's very difficult to start and complete a project without critical mass. The result is often independent to the point of uselessness. A lot of work needs to be done and it's difficult to even build on other people's work if the work is not applicable or not finished enough.
We need some people to forge a path ahead and make things but at the same time we need to have conversations on conversations and sharing of ideas. Maybe then we can build the right abstractions or tools for eachother to use.
